Senior Accountant

Accountants One has partnered with a Christian Non-Profit organization to help them find a Senior Accountant. The Senior will be responsible for a variety of monthly and annual account analysis, reconciliations and journal entries including accounting for investment related activity.  Additionally, will assist with the internal and external reporting requirements and fixed asset accounting. They are looking for someone who is a forward thinker and will reach for constant improvement to continually add to the story of the organization’s success. This person should be interested in accounting, financial reporting, database management, and client engagement.  The Senior will report directly to the CFO. This is a hybrid position after training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly and quarterly reporting. 
• Prepare and process transactions through automated trust accounting system, including cash receipts and disbursements, endowment pool transactions, and other miscellaneous items.
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
• Conduct treasury fee analysis and manage treasury bank relationships
• Assist in coordinating and completing workpapers required for the annual financial audit, and the requisite notes and supporting schedules
• Collaborate on special projects
• Communicate professionally and effectively with team members, clients, and visiting entities
• Research issues in GAAP, tax code, and other compliance mandates

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent.
• CPA or CPA exam eligible
• 3-5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger and financial analysis.
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office including advanced knowledge of Excel (formulas, v-lookups, pivot tables, charts, etc.)
• A solid understanding of investments, church and charitable gift taxation and fiduciary trustee law desired
• Experience with bank custody accounting software a plus
• Capable of database extraction, analysis, and reporting
