Description:

Medical Eye group in Smyrna is looking for a Dispensary Technician. This person would be responsible for the optical dispensary functions including patient assistance, dispensing, ordering, and processing of optical materials and supplies.

Need to have good customer service skills and be comfortable working with customers on eye glasses and contacts.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for promptly answering the phone in order to assure the highest standard of communication with our patients.
  • Responsible for promptly assisting all patients in the office with exceptional service and friendly disposition.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Interpreting optical prescriptions.
  • Reviews the patient’s chart to make sure records and charges are up to date.
  • Providing advice to patients on lens type, frames and styling.
  • Fitting contact lenses and giving advice on their care and use.
  • Taking frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning.
  • Advising patients and perform adjustments and/or repairs to glasses.
  • Selecting, managing and ordering a range of optical products.
  • Arranging, maintaining, cleaning, and stocking shop displays.
  • Ability to interpret insurance information/benefits/allowances, etc.
  • Assisting peers to ensure that superior service is provided to the patient.
  • Proficient in all aspects of patient check out.
  • Undertake computer training and development.
  • Dispenses glasses and contacts.
  • Processing orders and patient notification
  • Pulls trays for deliveries and verify accurate information.
  • Processes patient charges after frame selection.
  • Maintains miscellaneous displays in the dispensing room.
  • Assist with frame and accessory inventory.
  • Cleans dispensing and contact lens training rooms.
  • Notifies patients when their glasses/contacts are ready.
  • Responsible for opening and/or closing of dispensary area and ensuring the dispensary is always clean, organized and receptive for our patients.
  • Able to assist and back up Ophthalmic Technicians
  • Responds to notification lights to assist patients.
  • Instructional topics include enzyme cleaning, hard and soft lens cleaning and disinfection, make-up tips, allergy-related contact lens and solution problems, insertion and removal, wearing time, contact lens replacement, loss and damage prevention, etc.
  • Makes arrangements and appointments for patients to pick up, exchange, polish and modify contact lenses.
  • If contact lenses were dispensed, record parameters within patient’s records.
  • Enters appropriate charges on patient’s record and fills out a fee slip.
  • Reviews the patient’s chart to make sure records and charges are up to date.
  • Conducts contact lens evaluations with patients.
  • Sells solutions, cases, accessories and non- Rx drops.
  • Cleans and disinfect the diagnostic lenses used each day and return them to stock.
  • Assist with keeping the contact lens training room clean and stocked.
  • Assists appointment making, incoming phone answering, fee entry and collection.
  • Performs the following procedures as needed: Measures hard lenses (BC, power, diameter, color, blend, center thickness, prism, bevel; polish hard lenses; inspect contact lenses for deposits and damage; add minus power to hard lenses; and insertion and removal of Contact Lens for patient.
  • Assist Contact Lens/Frames Department.
  • Assist Finishing Lab Optician.
  • Additional duties as assigned to ensure accomplishment of our mission.
