About Fio Griffith

Fiorella (Fio) Griffith serves as the Director of North America Settlement Accounting for Global Payments Inc., one of the world’s leading payment processing companies.  Global Payments, a member of the S&P 500, generates circa $3.9 billion of net revenues annually and operates in markets around the globe.

Fio leads the team responsible for settlement accounting for the US and Canada markets. Previously, she was responsible for worldwide operational audits focused on financial and regulatory compliance, as well as business process improvements.  Since joining Global Payments in 2004, Fio has played a key role in integrating and leading the company’s North America settlement team as well as building the financial internal audit team.

Fio has over fifteen (19) years of global business experience in financial, operational and regulatory auditing, accounting, business process evaluation and design, regulatory compliance, financial statement review, and fraud investigations. She has served clients in multiple industries, including payment processing, healthcare and utilities, and has expertise in business process and controls framework design, SOX compliance, anti-money laundering compliance, as well as anti-bribery regulatory compliance. She is fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish and Papiamento.

Fio holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in Accounting) from the University of the Netherlands Antilles (UNA) and a Master of Professional Accountancy degree (with a concentration in auditing and financial reporting) from Georgia State University. She is a certified internal auditor, a certified anti-money laundering specialist, certified information systems auditor and holds a certification in risk management assurance.

Fio has served on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Caribbean Organizations (IACO) (2005). She has written the working paper “Increase in tax revenues as a result of economic growth: myth or reality?” through the UNA Library Press (1999). She loves to dance, and enjoys spending time with her husband, Glen, and their three (3) children. Originally from Curacao, Dutch Antilles, she and her family currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
