Q: Congratulations Holly. You were the Top Recruiter at Accountants One for 2006. You also were top biller in 2005. To what do you attribute your success?
A: I feel that my success is directly related to my ability to prioritize my day. I also make it a point in interviews to ask the tough questions that allow me to get to know candidates on a much deeper level.
Q: What is your area of focus?
A: I recruit from the clerical level of accounting on up to a Senior Accountant.
Q: What is your philosophy of recruiting?
A: Always trust your gut instincts.
Q: I understand that you were on maternity leave during the year. How in the world did you manage to have a baby and still be the top biller for the firm?
A: In January 2006 I set a goal to bill my sales goal for the year by my due date. I knew that I would have a much more enjoyable maternity leave if I reached my goal before I gave birth. My team helped me achieve this goal. I focused on interviewing top candidates and asking for referrals. I feel that a lot of my success was pure luck, but I could not have done it without my team.
Q: What are your thoughts on work/life balance?
A: Having a work/life balance is very important. It is very hard to do in this business, but you have to force yourself to make time for the things that you enjoy in life.
Q: Who is your business role model?
A: Carly Fiorina, former CEO (1999-2005) and Chairman of the Board (2000-2005) of Hewlett-Packard (HP)
